Managed Vulnerability Management in Higher Education: A Case Study in Cybersecurity Maturity
ANSecurity has partnered with St John’s College for over 13 years, supporting its ongoing journey to modernise its cybersecurity approach.
With limited internal resources and an evolving threat landscape, the college sought a structured, proactive solution to support its IT operations.
The implementation of a Managed Vulnerability Management (MVM) programme was designed to complement the existing IT team, improve
visibility, and enhance risk management.
St John’s College is a historic higher education institution at the University of Oxford, founded in 1555. The college
supports a diverse academic community including 410 undergraduates, 249 postgraduates, 150 staff members,
and 100 academic fellows. This community is supported by an internal IT team across one main site and eight
additional sites, which include offices, accommodation, a sports pavilion, a nursery, and a rural property outside
Oxford used for seasonal operations.
