You know what they say, a change is as a good as a rest, and I have to say I wholeheartedly agree.
As most of my network will be aware I’ve spent the last 20+ years of my life in the software space, working with both small owner managed businesses and large multi-national corporates and I don’t think I’m being overly bumptious to say that I’ve done OK along the way. What I do know is that I’ve been lucky enough to work with some hugely talented and passionate individuals and teams from across the world. I’ve been working with brand new leading edge technologies, and also at times those which are, how can I put it, a little past their best would be polite.
So what about that change? Well over the recent past I’ve taken stock out of what drives me as a wearer of a lot of different hats whether that be Leader, Contributor, Culture Maker or Trusted Customer Advisor. You may think of it as a mid life crisis, but I see it more as positive introspection. This thought process has helped me to truly understand where my passion lies, what gets me up in the morning and fundamentally, where do I want to focus my energy.
The conclusion was really quite easy to get to. I needed to work for a business that is absolutely great at what they do, had true business ethics, is passionate about their ongoing growth, and most importantly, could do it all with a smile on their face. I also wanted to be a little bit scared, I wanted to be out of my comfort zone.
For all of these reasons I’ve recently joined a fantastic business called ANSecurity. Having worked with literally thousands of professional services consultants, I pride myself of being able to spot a seasoned “domain expert” blagger from the real deal, INSTANTLY, and I have to say the knowledge within the team here is absolutely second to none. These guys know their stuff when it comes to all things Cyber security related, they love what they do and I genuinely don’t even think that they see it as a job. Really understanding the customer problem and finding right sized solutions are built within their DNA. When it comes to ethics, BIG TICK! There is no specific vendor alliance, the advice is based around the situation, the budget, the risk and the bigger picture, rather than any “Buy Now, Once In a Lifetime, Special Offer Vendor Pricing!!!”. Best of all they are a team that knows how to enjoy what they do!
When it comes to my comfort zone, I have said goodbye to pure play software, and hello to the exciting new world of Cyber Security. I have lots new to learn, but a great team that are supporting me along the way.
So this in a nutshell, is why I’ve joined ANSecurity...
